International Nurses Day 2018

Posted : 17 May 2018

Martina Wright, Director of Governance and Risk shares her day at the Celebratory Nurses event in Westminster last week.

"The annual event to celebrate our nurses was held on the 9th of May and was attended by many of our wonderful nurses from all of our businesses.  This event is to show our appreciation to our nurses for their continued hard work in providing high quality care for our customers, patients and residents across the UK.

Nurse Executive, Paul Carruthers opened the event and introduced the Lead Nurses from each of the businesses. We heard what their achievements and challenges were which offered great insight into each business.  The event provided a great opportunity to meet fellow nurses from across the UK and learn about other specialist nursing services.  I had the pleasure of sitting with nurses from our occupational health, care and insurance services.

Following afternoon tea we heard from Clare Scully and Lucy Brown where they provided lots of information on all of the clinical development and engagement opportunities throughout 2018. After Lucy and Clare's presentation we heard from Graham Johnson, the Lead Nurse from Clinics who is retiring at the end of the month. Graham gave us an insight into his nursing career and a toast was made to bid him farewell. We then headed to the green where we took some fabulous group pictures infront of Westminster Abbey. After this we made our way to the Abbey for the Florence Nightingale Commemoration Service. This services is attended by many nurses throughout the Globe to celebrate her life.

A huge thank you to The Clinical Engagement Team for arranging the event. A really special day for our nursing community."
