Clare Scully - Great place to work

Posted : 23 March 2017

It is often said that in great workplaces, it isn’t what the organisations are doing, it is how their leaders are doing it. Clare Scully, Director of Clinical Leadership and Community, Bupa UK, attended The King’s Fund one day event designed to help leaders build a culture of trust and engagement.

Today, I have had the absolute privilege to represent some of our work at the Kings Fund. I attended a conference all about creating a ‘Great Place to work’. I heard from experts on; creating the cultures and leadership behaviours required to develop a great working environment, continuous service improvement and, above all, putting our customers, patients and residents at the forefront of what we do.

I heard some fantastic examples of team working that led to demonstrable clinical outcomes. What impressed me the most was the emphasis on the importance of having an open and value-based culture that supports everyone to do their very best in their role.

On a personal level, the day gave me some great ideas and I felt extremely proud being able to contribute to one of the panel sessions on talent and leadership. I talked about the Our Bupa website, webinar series, clinical events and the upcoming leadership programme (Leading Clinical Excellence).
